Now, I’m usually a very suspicious person, especially about spam and scams. But, well, she had a full detailed Friendster page, and left an email address, so why not find out more. I’ve been watching an incredibly romantic JDorama called Densha Otoko, and the similarities are there.
I’ve always been intrigued by the use of the Internet for good causes. Yes it is sickening after so many chain mails that lead to nowhere, but always, there’s this part of me that believes that, yes, it’s possible that there might be someone with a real need out there.
So I followed up, by emailing her, and so far, I’ve had human replies, and as much as I can ascertain, she’s a living breathing decent person.
So this is me doing my bit. This is what I’ve gathered. A guy who started out as a stranger, but who offered the friendship and support when she needed it the most. His name is Chua Y’ng Gien @ Chua yong jien, age 27-28yrs old, last known area he was staying is Ang Mo Kio. He was serving his NS around 2005 or 2006.
Yoke Ping would be leaving Singapore, maybe for good, and she wants to leave, knowing that this friend of hers is doing fine, and maybe to thank him one more time. If you believe in her cause, do help to spread the word, try to find out where he is?
